Notice is hereby given that Dr. James T. Harvey, Moss LandingMarine Laboratories, P.O. Box 450, Moss Landing, CA 95039-0450has been issued an amendment to scientific research Permit No.938.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION:
On August 7, 2000, notice was published in the Federal Register (65 FR 48221) that an amendment ofPermit No. 938, issued February 2, 1995 (60 FR 7753), had beenrequested by the above-named organization. The requestedamendment has been granted under the authority of the MarineMammal Protection Act of 1972, as amended (16 U.S.C. 1361 etseq.) and the Regulations Governing the Taking and Importing ofMarine Mammals (50 CFR part 216).
Permit No. 938 authorizes the permit holder to take variousspecies of marine mammals of the suborders Mysticeti, Odontoceti,Pinnipedia, and southern sea otter of the California coastannually during: aerial and vessel surveys, behavioralobservations, photographic identification, and VHF and TDRtagging. With this amendment, the permit holder is nowauthorized to place implantable VHF and TDR tags on up to eightkiller whales in southeast Alaska.
