On October 1, 1999, the National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. ("NASD"), through its wholly-owned subsidiary, the Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. ("Nasdaq"), filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission ("Commission"), pursuant to Section 19(b)(1) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 ("Act"),1and Rule 19b-4 thereunder,2a proposed rule change to establish the Nasdaq Order Display Facility and the Order Collector Facility, collectively referred to as the SuperMontage. On October 26, and October 29, 1999, respectively, Nasdaq filed Amendment Nos. 1 and 2 to the proposal.3The proposed rule change and Amendment Nos. 1 and 2 were published for comment in the Federal Register on December 6, 1999.4On March 16, 2000, Nasdaq filed Amendment No. 3 to the proposal.5On March 23, 2000, Nasdaq filed Amendment No. 46to the proposal, which was published for comment in the Federal Register on March 30, 2000.7On May 19, 2000, Nasdaq filed Amendment No. 5 to the proposal;8on July 7, 2000, Nasdaq filed Amendment No. 6;9and on August 8, 2000, Nasdaq filed Amendment No. 7.10Amendment Nos. 5, 6 and 7 were published in the Federal Register for comment on August 15, 2000.11

To give the public additional time to comment on Amendment Nos. 5, 6, and 7, the Commission is extending the comment period for Amendment Nos. 5, 6, and 7 to September 14, 2000. A copy of the proposed rule change, as amended, is available in the Commission's Public Reference Room in File No. SR-NASD-99-53.
Interested persons are invited to submit written data, views, and arguments concerning the foregoing, including whether Amendment Nos. 5, 6, and 7 are consistent with the Act. Persons making written submissions should file six copies thereof with Jonathan G. Katz, Secretary, Securities and Exchange Commission, 450 Fifth Street, N.W., Washington, DC 20549-0609. Copies of the submission, all subsequent amendments, all written statements with respect to the proposed rule change that are filed with the Commission, and all written communications relating to the proposed rule change between the Commission and any person, other than those that may be withheld from the public in accordance with the provisions of 5 U.S.C. 552, will be available for inspection and copying in the Commission's Public Reference Room.
